The exhibition on display in Štanjel Castle is dedicated to one of the Karst´s greatest residents, whose rich material and intellectual legacy can be seen in many places in the region. Through the exhibition we hope to provide a wiew of Fabiani´s extensive creative opus, ranking him among the most important architects of Central Europe at the turn of the century.
His works reveal an original artist, advanced engineer, and sentsitive designer of space.
Trough his essays and life history we learn about the professional and personal breadth of Fabiani the architect, who was also a disceming thinker, an innovator and visionary, a man familiar with major cities of the world while also at home in the Karst. His works include the designs for imposing city palaces, urban plans for large cityes and towns, as well as the apparently marginal interventions in small towns and vilages in the Karst and Gorizia region – he was a great architectof the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, applying the same precision and professional responsability to all tasks.
Fabiani´s understanding of space as a value which shapes and determines human residence in crucial ways remains an inspiration and commitment for both experts as well as for everyone else who lives in the space and contributes to its shaping.
